As many document controllers may know, converting a Word document to Excel is not always an easy task. The cells do not always transfer over nicely. Images often get lost in the conversion among other problems.
Rather than spending an hour or two building complex Excel templates from scratch to exactly match the word document, try this:
- Save the Word document as a PDF.
- In the PDF, use the Export to Spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel Workbook) function.
And voila!
An Excel version with the exact column and row width as the Word document.
You will likely still need to do some modifications such as merging/unmerging cells, deleting checkbox images and instead creating cells with outlines.
Even with the slight modifications still needing done, converting Word to Excel in this fashion will save so much time compared to building the Excel spreadsheet from scratch!
