The biannual ONS conference takes place from August 28-30, 2018 in Stavenger, Norway.
From the conference website, here’s a short history of the show:
ONS was short for Offshore North Sea, as the event was targeted at companies with business in the North Sea basin.
However, the oil industry soon started to explore other parts of the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The ONS event grew alongside the industry, more exhibitors and visitors participated and the conference topics became broader. So the name was changed to Offshore Northern Seas.
Today, the event attracts visitors from all over the world, and is known just as ONS.
The last show in 2016 featured 1,241 exhibitors from 40 countries. Here are some additional stats from the 2016 show:
- 65 718 visitors
- 100 nationalities
- 202 members of the press
- 92 % of visitors say they will come back for ONS 2018
- 45 % visited the event for two days or more
- 88 % of visitors view ONS as an important meeting place
