SSO is a method of user authentication via an external identity provider. It allows users to log in to multiple services using a single set of credentials (username and password).
As a DocBoss user, if SSO is enabled in your system, you will be redirected to your company’s sign in page when logging in to DocBoss, instead of having to remember your own password and username for DocBoss.
DocBoss offers SSO using a number of different providers including Microsoft Entra ID (SSO and User Provisioning), Okta (SSO and User Provisioning) and Ping (SSO and User Provisioning).
SSO Benefits For DocBoss Subscribers
Single Sign-On (SSO) offers a range of significant advantages, impacting security, user experience, and operational efficiency. Here are some of the main benefits:
- Enhanced Security:
- By reducing the number of passwords users need to manage, SSO encourages the use of stronger, more complex passwords.
- Centralized authentication allows for consistent security policies and easier monitoring of access.
- It can be combined with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for an extra layer of protection.
- Reduces the risk of phishing attacks, as users input their credentials less frequently.
- Improved User Experience:
- Users only need to remember one set of credentials, eliminating the frustration of multiple logins.
- Streamlined access to applications increases productivity and reduces downtime.
- It simplifies the login process, making it more convenient for users.
- Increased Productivity:
- Reduced login times allow employees to focus on their tasks rather than dealing with password issues.
- Simplified access to necessary applications enhances overall work efficiency.
- Simplified IT Management:
- Centralized user access management simplifies administration and reduces IT support requests related to password resets.
- It allows for easier enforcement of security policies and compliance requirements.
- Reduces IT help desk calls.
- Reduced IT Costs:
- Fewer password-related support tickets translate to lower operational costs.
- Streamlined user management reduces the time and resources required for IT administration.
- Mitigation of Shadow IT:
- By making approved applications easily accessible, SSO can discourage users from resorting to unapproved and potentially insecure software.
- Facilitates compliance:
- SSO helps organizations to meet regulatory requirements by providing audit trails and centralized control over access.
How do I transition to SSO without disrupting users?
When you are ready to make the switch, please coordinate a meeting with our DocBoss Support team.
We will set up the integration using the domain [yourcompany]1.com.
During that meeting we will remove the “1” from the domain name on our side (in our setup) to make the SSO live. You can have a user logout/login to test while online with support to ensure all goes well (otherwise we just switch back and all remains as it was while troubleshooting happens).
