75% of process equipment suppliers experience payment holdbacks related to documentation.
Over 80% of EPCs feel that data validation and correct formatting are the most important factors for successful supplier document management.
While 90% of process equipment suppliers prefer to send and track transmittals by email, less than half of EPCs like to receive them that way.
EPCs generally expect suppliers to charge them for physical documentation but most suppliers don’t bother doing this.
These are some of the high level findings that are outlined in our document control survey entitled Supplier vs EPC, Why is Vendor Documentation so Painful?
We questioned a total of 106 respondents – 45 process equipment supplier organizations and 61 EPC organizations – and asked them to describe their dealings with one another, where the gaps are, and what areas of improvement each would like the other to address.
While most EPCs we polled are large organizations, the suppliers represent a broad range of businesses and include manufacturers, fabricators and distributors of valves, pumps, instrumentation, skids and tanks and range in size from less than 50 employees to over 500 staff.
